Partnering for STEM: Aramco F1 in Schools 2024 World Finals
55 teams from around the world participated in STEM event hosted in Saudi Arabia for the first time
After three days of intense competition, the winners of the Aramco F1 in Schools World Finals have been crowned, as Saudi Arabia hosted the event for the first time.
German team Evolut1on took the top prize, followed by the co-national team Array in second place and the Australian team Lunar in third.
Aramco is proud to be title sponsor of the global initiative inspiring the next generation of engineers, as part of its global efforts to advance innovation and support STEM (science, engineering, technology and mathematics) in schools around the world.
Since its inception in 2000, F1 in Schools has grown from a modest competition involving just eight schools in the UK, to more than 1.8 million participants from 28,000 educational institutions globally. Alongside the miniature car development, teams were also assessed on their engineering and project management skills as well as their marketing, teamwork, innovation, and communication.
More than a third of contestants in this year’s event were female, as the initiative progresses towards its goal of achieving equal participation among boys and girls.
For Aramco, this partnership represents a vital component in the broader effort to foster technical expertise and innovation among the younger generation. In October, Aramco Europe hosted 100 students at Silverstone Museum to deliver a series of workshops showcasing career opportunities available within motorsport and STEM. As part of Silverstone’s annual #GirlsWill campaign, the interactive sessions offered insights from a variety of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team members – including Jessica Hawkins, Head of the F1 Academy – and aimed to inspire young women to pursue careers in science and technology.
