Aramco Europe supports Silverstone Museum's new STEM outreach program

News|Silverstone, United Kingdom|
Aramco Europe supports Silverstone Museum’s launch of its new STEM Pitstop outreach program, bringing hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning directly to schools across the UK.

STEM Pitstop takes the Museum’s education program on the road. The mobile workshop is free and aims to reach schools that cannot access Silverstone Museum due to economic difficulty or geographical location.

Silverstone Museum’s education program promotes STEM learning with a view to inspiring a new generation of engineers and technicians. During a pilot between November and January, STEM Pitstop reached over 1,000 students and 66 teachers across different regions in the UK (Midlands, East Anglia and South Wales).

Phil Lawrie, Chief Executive of Silverstone Museum, said: “Sincere thanks to our partners at Aramco for their investment in this fantastically positive initiative. When it comes to developing and nurturing young talent our values are aligned – and it is shared values that are central to every strong partnership.”

Mazin Dabbagh, President & CEO of Aramco Europe added: “We deeply value our partnership with Silverstone Museum, and we are proud to support initiatives that help bring STEM learning to students across the UK.”

Each school visit begins with a STEM assembly introducing key scientific principles and career pathways within motorsport and advanced manufacturing. Smaller group workshops then provide students with the opportunity to handle authentic racing components and explore engineering concepts in more detail.

The program prioritizes schools with a high proportion of students receiving pupil premium (funding in England to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in state-funded schools). STEM Pitstop aims to reach at least 15,000 young people by the end of 2026.

Aramco Europe sees STEM education as vital in preparing the next generation for the challenges of the future and supports a range of educational initiatives across Europe that encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
