Inside the mind of a champion: Fernando Alonso meets Aramco Europe staff

News|The Hague, The Netherlands|

Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso shared his insights on leadership and performance under pressure in a live Q&A session with Aramco Europe employees in The Hague.

The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team driver took questions from the audience in a session moderated by Aramco Europe Chief Communications Officer Hussain Alamri.
The Spanish driver who has notched up 32 Grand Prix victories to date, took time out from the Dutch Grand Prix Media Day to meet with Aramco Europe staff ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, which marks the start of the second half of the season.

During a lengthy Q&A session with more than 180 Aramco Europe employees, the elite driver shared lessons on leadership, teamwork and success from motorsport.
He also highlighted the importance of technological innovation in F1 teams and how the building block skills of science, technology, engineering and mathematics underpin success.

“While only one person stands on the podium, every victory is built on the dedication, innovation and teamwork of hundreds of brilliant minds united by a shared goal and passion,” he said.

Among the current cohort of F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso has enjoyed the longest period at the top, with a career spanning a quarter century. This longevity has given him a unique perspective on the evolution of modern motorsport.

As the global energy partner of F1, Aramco is also working to support the development of solutions that could contribute to the energy transition in both motorsport and the broader transport sector.

Aramco became a strategic partner of Aston Martin Racing in 2022, coordinating research and development efforts to advance fuel and engine technologies and non-metallic materials performance.

Together, they also collaborate on joint STEM initiatives to inspire the young technicians, engineers and drivers of the future.
