Aramco Europe advances digital learning in the Netherlands through support for schools coding program

News|Rotterdam, Netherlands|

Aramco Europe is helping schoolchildren enhance their digital skills through its support for the rollout of a fun coding program across the Netherlands.

Devvox4Kids Netherlands aims to demystify coding, robotics and electronics for schoolchildren while also supporting classroom teachers in their efforts to inspire their pupils. The program has already reached 359 students so far this year and is on course to double that tally by year-end.

Devoxx4Kids Netherlands chairman, Eddy Vos, said: “With the support of Aramco Europe, we are delighted to extend our fun-based learning approach to more cities across the Netherlands and engage with young people starting out on their digital learning journey.

“These events aim to encourage creative confidence and digital competence, empowering participants with curiosity to become problem-solvers and innovators of the future.”
After its inaugural event last year in The Hague, home to the headquarters of Aramco Europe, the initiative has since included events in Nieuwegein, Rotterdam and Utrecht, with the next engagement planned for Arnhem on Sept. 26, 2026.

Devoxx4Kids is an international non-profit organization with chapters in over 15 countries, and has reached more than 40,000 children worldwide through workshops and events.
Aramco Europe’s support for Devoxx4Kids Netherlands forms part of a broader commitment to advancing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education across Europe. Through its citizenship program, the company partners with educational institutions and non-profit organizations to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

Advancing STEM across borders

In the United Kingdom, Aramco Europe has worked with the University of Manchester's Science & Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub (SEERIH) on the Inspiring STEM Education Program. Through the same collaboration, Aramco Europe has supported the growth of the Great Science Share for Schools campaign, an international initiative that encourages children aged 5 to 14 to ask scientific questions, investigate them, and share their findings with wider audiences.

More recently, the company has strengthened its partnerships in the UK through initiatives that connect STEM learning with real-world applications. Working alongside STEM Learning and Silverstone Museum, Aramco Europe has supported workshops that introduce students to motorsport technology, engineering careers and Formula 1 innovation, providing hands-on experiences designed to inspire future engineers, scientists and technicians.

In Poland, the company collaborates with Fahrenheit Union of Universities (FarU) in Gdańsk, to support and expand STEM education through community events and student programs.

Together, these programs demonstrate how Aramco Europe is supporting STEM education at multiple levels, from introducing children to coding and robotics through Devoxx4Kids, to empowering teachers, nurturing young innovators and exposing students to future career pathways in science and technology.
