Advancing STEM in Poland as Science Picnic returns to Gdańsk

News|Gdańsk, Poland|

About 5,000 visitors participated in the Science Picnic in the Polish city of Gdańsk, an annual gathering supported by Aramco Europe’s citizenship program.

Now in its fourth year, The Fahrenheit Science Picnic is an initiative of the Fahrenheit Universities and Hevelianum, that aspires to bring the fascinating world of science closer to both curious kids and grown-up explorers.

The promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is a cornerstone of Aramco’s global citizenship program which is committed to preparing the next generation for the challenges of the future. Fostering a love for STEM subjects and practical problem-solving skills reflects the company’s belief that they represent the educational foundation of innovation.

Aramco Europe Chief Communications Officer Hussain Alamri, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with Fahrenheit Universities and Hevelianum on this wonderful celebration of science, which continues to go from strength to strength. One of the most unique and endearing aspects of this event has been its success in finding new ways to make science fun for all those who attend, young and old.

“Combining education and entertainment has proven to be effective in advancing learning across many of the STEM-focused projects we support across Europe, and it was encouraging to see such remarkable growth in attendance at this year’s Science Picnic, which once again had something for everyone.”

Overall visitor numbers to the free and open event rose by almost a quarter on the previous year’s attendance, with the main Science Stage featuring several different shows, performances and interactive experiences. The Science Village included more than 70 tents filled with different attractions, featuring hands-on experiments in biology, chemistry and physics as well zones dedicated to health, nutrition, robotics and much more. For the youngest guests, the Kids’ Zone, was packed with creative play and art-related activities.
