Aramco Europe this week welcomed the children of employees to its Hague headquarters for a fun day of learning aimed at honing their digital skills.
It was the first of a series of events planned in collaboration with Devoxx4Kids Netherlands, a non-profit organization founded with the goal of demystifying computer science for children by focusing on playful, inclusive learning that encourages experimentation and creativity.
“I thought working with the robot was the most fun, trying to figure how to make it spin and go straight where we wanted it to,” one of the children commented.
The organization is supported by Aramco Europe’s citizenship program which encourages the teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through a number of ongoing initiatives across Europe.
Devoxx4Kids Netherlands Chairman, Eddy Vos, said: “We are delighted to have been invited by Aramco Europe to host this fun day of learning at the company’s headquarters.
“It was especially rewarding to see how the young people were able to work within teams to solve the challenges they were set while developing their coding skills in the process.”
Open to children aged between 8 and 14, the program included workshops designed around fun tasks from coding in a Minecraft world to working with robots. The workshops were tailored to the existing skills and knowledge of the participating students.
With Aramco Europe’s support, Devoxx4Kids Netherlands has sourced 32 new laptops for its educational sessions which will have benefited more than 500 students over the final quarter of 2025.
