Aramco Europe supports Devoxx4Kids Netherlands STEM learning program

News|The Hague, Rotterdam|

Aramco Europe is helping young people develop their digital skills though its support for Devoxx4Kids Netherlands, which promotes learning through play.

The international non-profit organization was founded with the goal of demystifying computer science for children by focusing on playful, inclusive learning that encourages experimentation and creativity.

The advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is a cornerstone of Aramco’s citizenship efforts, which target both the learning and teaching of these core subjects which drive innovation.

The program will start with communities around The Hague, where Aramco Europe's headquarters are located and will include efforts to increase access for girls and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Devoxx4Kids Netherlands chairman, Eddy Vos, said: “Through this strategic partnership, we aim to support social investment in education and youth development, empowering the next generation through innovation and creativity.

“We are proud to invest in equipping young people with essential digital skills and creative confidence, particularly those from underrepresented communities.”

Children who attend Devoxx4Kids workshops are given the opportunity to build games, program robots, and explore electronics in a safe, welcoming environment. The initiative also aims to inspire change within traditional education systems, encouraging broader inclusion of computer science in school curriculums.

Devoxx4Kids has also highlighted the high job vacancy rate in the European IT sector and hopes its programs will tackle the skills gap by encouraging more young people into the industry.

The organization has delivered over 400 events globally, reaching thousands of young people across Europe, the United States and beyond. Aramco Europe’s support will help expand Devoxx4Kids' reach and enable more children to take part in their workshops across the continent.

The partnership represents a key milestone in the company’s efforts to promote STEM education and support meaningful community engagement through its citizenship initiatives.
