Aramco Europe continuously supports research and development (R&D) initiatives around energy topics. As part of its commitment to promote R&D, the company aims to foster STEM talent development by collaborating with the Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk (FarU). Two recent initiatives – the "Release the Energy" conference and the "Energy of the Future" competition – showcased the potential of innovative solutions developed by students and strengthened the collaboration between Aramco and the academic community.
An energetic exchange of knowledge
The "Release the Energy" conference, held on October 22, provided a platform for experts and students to discuss key energy challenges such as energy efficiency, green hydrogen generation technologies, regional energy islands, and the potential application of bio-microgels in biodegradation of pollutants. The event facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experience between industry specialists and aspiring scientists.
Aramco Europe sponsored the award for the best presentation, which was given to Eng. Szymon Niewdana for his presentation on energy cooperatives. The award for the best scientific poster, entitled "Trash In, Gas Out (TIGO) – Integration of Artificial Intelligence in the Pyrolysis of Organic and Polymer Waste for Hydrogen Production," was awarded to the team of Michał Dominów, Dzmitry Dauhalevich, Łukasz Arcimowicz, and Rafał Kowalski\
Competition of young innovators
During the final of the "Energy of the Future" competition, held on November 7, FarU students and doctoral candidates had the unique opportunity to pitch their projects to potential investors and business partners. The competition encompassed three key categories: prototypes of innovative devices, films promoting sustainable energy, and information and education campaigns.
The authors of the ‘Power Plant of The Future’ project triumphed that day - and doubly so. The team won both the prize for the best final project and the best presentation. Prizes for the team were presented by Adrianna Zaleska-Medynska, Director of FarU, and Jarosław Kobus, CEO of Aramco Fuels Poland.
"I was extremely impressed by the innovation and sophistication of the FarU students' projects presented at the 'Release the Energy' conference and the 'Energy of the Future' competition. This is proof of the great potential that lies within young people and how the future of energy is taking shape. We are proud to support the development of these talents, providing them with the tools and resources they need to become tomorrow's leaders in the energy industry," said Jarosław Kobus, CEO of Aramco Fuels Poland.
The ongoing collaboration with the Fahrenheit Union of Universities is part of Aramco Europe’s Corporate Citizenship program, which aims to support local initiatives and promote STEM education.
