News|Gdanks, Poland|

Aramco Europe has celebrated World Migratory Bird Day which this year highlights the critical role that community participation plays in global conservation efforts.

Through its work with organizations such as the OnWater.pl Foundation in Poland, which aims to establish a floating bird habitat in Gdańsk, Aramco Europe supports selected conservation initiatives in locations where the company operates, including projects focused on biodiversity and environmental awareness.

Kamil Zaremba, President of OnWater.pl Foundation, said: “This year World Migratory Bird Day champions the power of community collaboration. Thanks to the support of Aramco Europe, our project represents an opportunity for the local community to learn more about the importance of nature conservation in our city and the role that everyone can play in protecting these habitats.”

Observed twice annually to align with migration patterns in both hemispheres, World Migratory Bird Day 2026 focuses on the power of community science and its ability to inform global policy.

Aramco Europe has supported a number of community and conservation initiatives in recent years, including projects led by Fundación Global Nature (FGN) – a non-profit organization dedicated to nature conservation and restoring wetlands in Spain.

In Saudi Arabia, Aramco has also designated several Biodiversity Protection Areas, covering more than 1,069 square kilometers, designated for biodiversity protection and managed with the aim of supporting habitats  for migratory birds.

These include Abu Ali Island, located on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast, near the industrial city of Jubail, which serves is understood to be used as a stopover for visiting migratory birds species, such as the Socotra Cormorant, Blue-cheeked bee-eater, Barn Swallow, and Crested Lark.
