Aramco Europe supports enquiry-led learning through The University of Manchester’s Great Science Share for Schools campaign

News|Manchester, United Kingdom|

Around 400 students and educators took part in the Great Science Share for Schools initiative hosted by The University of Manchester on June 16th, as part of Aramco Europe’s partnership focused on improving science enquiry in education.

The award-winning campaign is designed to improve the quality of science teaching for students aged 5 to 14 by equipping teachers with tools and resources that bring scientific enquiry into everyday classroom learning. It encourages students to ask questions, investigate ideas, and share scientific thinking with their peers.

The annual share day in June acts as a focal point for activity, with schools across the UK and internationally invited to take part.  The event is a great opportunity for Aramco to observe the initiative first-hand and engage directly with educators and students as they develop their own scientific questions and explore ways to investigate them, helping to build confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills from an early age.

Through classroom-based activities, demonstrations, and collaborative learning, teachers supported students in exploring real-world scientific concepts in an accessible and engaging way. The initiative places strong emphasis on inclusion, ensuring learners from a diverse range of backgrounds can participate in STEM-focused education.
The Great Science Share for Schools campaign has now reached over a million students across 58 countries, reflecting its growing reach and impact in supporting science education worldwide.

Professor Lynne Bianchi, Vice Dean for Social Responsibility, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility of the Science and Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub (SEERIH), from The University of Manchester said: “Great Science Share for Schools encourages students to think like scientists by asking their own questions and exploring answers together. Our partnership with Aramco Europe helps extend this approach and supports teachers in embedding enquiry-led science learning in the classroom. By nurturing curiosity early, we help build confidence in STEM subjects and inspire young learners to see how science connects to the world around them.”

The initiative builds on Manchester’s historic role as a center for industry, research and innovation, underscoring the value of enquiry-led learning in preparing young people for a technology-driven future.

Aramco Europe places strong emphasis on strengthening science education through partnerships that build teacher capability and encourage curiosity-led learning. Through initiatives such as Great Science Share for Schools, the company supports programs that help inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.
